It was in Tuscan, Italy, that she had her first experience in modeling the clay in the ceramic wheel, a traditional ceramic wheel, the kind you push with your foot".

However, it was after a four month trip within the country side of her homeland, with the project "Projeto Saberes do Brasil" ("Knowledge of Brazil Project"), as she experienced and lived customs and ways related to the Brazilian table, that the most organic shapes made room in the production. Her research seeks to sensitize the user so that man is re-introduced to his own culture. The rethinking of the earth starting at the potter's hands.

In 2005, the Muriqui Group was formed, a center for research and development in glazes and ceramics production. The group is formed by herself and three other ceramic artists: Ana Glaura, Estela and Jane.

Graduated in Graphic Design by Faap University, she has worked in this area, always having ceramic art as a hobby until she moved with her husband and children to the United States of America and was able to dedicate herself full time to her great passion: high temperature ceramic art. She studied at Greenwich House Pottery, New York and at Art School at Old Church, New Jersey.

Back in Brazil now, she has her art studio in the Sao Paulo neighborhood of Brooklin, where she develops her projects.

Her didactics is based on her teaching of high school students for thirty years. Estela guides the learning of ceramic art through the means of experimentation. This has been a strong characteristic of the way she has walked the world of ceramic art.

It was at the Cassiano Ricardo Foundation, in Sao Jose dos Campos, Sao Paulo, Brazil that she learned how to work the clay modeling and making use of the paddle. Throughout the years she experienced and coordinated experimental research of kilns, clays and glazes.

Her path in ceramic art started as she worked with modeling the clay manually. She was a disciple of great art ceramists and attended a variety of courses, from Raku and primitive burns, to specialized courses on high temperature glazes. Nowadays, she alternates between modeling the clay with the electrical wheel, so she can better express herself through her functional or non-functional pieces.

"The clay makes it possible for a direct contact with matter, the experience of a constant transformation that activates all our sensors and brings reality to what was not there initially.
The changes of a piece of clay under our fingers allow changes and the evolution of our own personal conscience. In each piece, a piece of our soul is left."
